I'm pretty sure those weird scars in the rice are supposed to be poached eggs. As to what's around the rice... I don't know. Perhaps that's just as well.

They don't look worried about the menu. They look worried about their bus being late.

The Gone With The Wind pastiche isn't for me, thanks. Just bring on the, uh... ring thing. Front and back covers of a 32-page promotional published by Comet Rice Mills, Beaumont, Texas. These pages were originally posted to flickr on August 8th, 2011.

I can only guess at the correct decade/year for this. I had some fun searching for logos to match this one exactly, but I didn't have any luck. Three sections of a promotional fold-out.

Wide lapels were absolutely a Thirties thing. The other stuff here? I'm not so sure. From September's issue of Sports Illustrated. (probably)

Gorham Sterling Silver Ad, 1958

I can't stop thinking of Jim Gaffigan's wedding monologue. "I guess we'll be the Fork Friends." :D At least in 1958, wedding favors didn't yet include wine stoppers filled with sand. I'm not sure which magazine this came from. Probably either House Beautiful or American Home.

Personally, I don't think that I would've been brave enough to take this thing to the beach. Unless I was planning to sit guard over it the whole time. But to each their own. One side of a promotional fold-out.

"Tonight We Love" Sheet Music, 1941

I don't think this tune really compares to Pete's original, but hopefully he made lots of dough off it. ;)

"A beauty course for kitty in every can." Yeah, because a creature dedicated enough to lick its own butt clean really needs your advice about beauty regimens. From the February issue of Good Housekeeping .

I was gonna' share the dessert section, too. But really all you need to know there is that baking without lard is impossible. Thanks for your time.

Pity the poor veal, which for some reason didn't rate sexy red ink like all the other meats. (I'm the one who added the red borders. It's just a thing I do.)

Also, apparently something called "Barbecued Beef Birds' was really popular that year.

Sorry I had to leave out the "Crisp Lamb Dices" recipe. Just think of it as bacon and eggs, only... uh, without the bacon.
