Clark's O.N.T. Cotton Ad, 1942

Vertical stripes, to make your evening reading, uh... look taller and thinner. I guess. Front/back covers of a 24-page how-to published by The Spool Cotton Company.
Oh, and if you haven't visited my sister account, but would like to, here's a collage featuring this image.

I wish I could narrow the date down a bit better. But hey, herring-infused cocktails... My fave! (Shown about 1/3rd larger than original size.)

I really love R.N. Appling's photo, which is why I posted both versions from this 60-page how-to.

Welcome to 2019! Time to cover myself in old wallpaper and serenade the world with my overenthusiastic version of "Lost In A Fog."
(Probably from Good Housekeeping .)

I don't need this weather forecaster thing. No one does, but I want it and you all do, too. Don't lie to me.
This page came from a clipping "grab bag" of scraps. I'm guessing it's from Fortune , because it's the right size. In fact, I shrank it a bit so I could clean it up more easily.

I don't know where the third wise man is. Maybe he had the day off. This was a single-page card with no interior, by the way. You were meant to write your seasons greetings below the printed area.
American Legion/Tivoli Beer Ad (2), c1935

Card insert and last call for Tivoli from the back of the menu. A salad would cost you 35 cents for shrimp, chicken, or fruit added. But tuna salad was only a quarter.

Straight whiskey would run you 15 cents. Bonded whiskey: a quarter. For whatever reason, Tivoli itself has no price listing. Maybe it was the Legion's house beer. Bass Ale and Guinness Stout were for the big spenders. A bottle of either would set you back 35 cents.

Definitely the thing you need to help get down all that syrupy mincemeat pie, gritty fudge, and Skittles™-infested fruitcake at the company Xmas party. (That last one swiped from a Jim Gaffigan monologue.)

Now that Sparky's remains are safely interred, it's time to add his memorial bloom.

Other recipes besides 3 (!) kinds of fruit cake include Jeweled Frosting, Easy Fondant For Fruited Candies, Mincemeat Turnovers, and... well you get the idea.

Time to get cracking on that fruitcake which no one ever eats! :D

It's hard to see here, but the falling snow is raised to give some texture variation.

Mom gave the seeds to the neighbor because she couldn't stop scrubbing the sink long enough to go outside. :/

Should we be relieved or disappointed that Woody Herman didn't do any acting here?
