It is a problem: once I look at one element those black an white checks start swirling around. And I’m sober and drug-free, I swear.

This is ancient history now. Pre-internet, even. I think the paper works in question were never posted anywhere. But once some of my roommate's visitors saw a bunch of WIPs I had laid out to view or dry. They took my roommate aside and asked her if I did a lot of drugs. (Which I did not. Not any, in fact. Because I didn't have any money for that.) Ah, youth!
