Fort William - Saint Mary's

Fort William is the largest town in the western Scottish Highlands with a population of almost 6,000. It lies on the banks of Loch Linnhe at the southern end of the Great Glen. Due to its proximity to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Great Britain, Fort William is a tourist stronghold
Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church is dominated by the massive tower at its north-eastern end, oddly reminiscent of a castle keep.

The Church was designed by the Scottish architect Reginald Fairlie. Construction began in 1933, and the church was opened in 1934 by the Bishop of of Argyll and the Isles.
