Oestinghausen - St. Stephanus

Oestinghausen - St. Stephanus
Oestinghausen was first mentioned in 1189. Romanesque St. Stephanus, the parish church for a , was erected in the middle of the 13th century. The first church here was built around 1000. The massive west tower with numerous round arch openings dates back to the 12th century. The church is located in the center of the village, surrounded by half-timbered houses. Here are the capitals, that flank the side portal. The artists used regional "Anröchter Sandstein" a greenesh sandstone, that is typical for this area.
