Villingen-Schwenningen - Villinger Muenster
The Villinger Muenster (aka "Muenster Unserer Lieben Frau") was erected in Romanesque style from 1130 on. It was completed in Gothic style in 1284, after a fire in 1271 had destoyed much of the town - and the building site of the Muenster. The towers were added in the 15th and 16th century.
Many works of art got lost due to a puritan / pietitic attemps in the 19th century. In 1829 about 70 statues alone have been removed.
