Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume - Le Chapitre

After the discovery of a tomb, containing the relics of Saint Mary Magdalene, here in 1279, a clever "marketing" plot, that put the pilgrim business in Vezelay to a sudden end, the erection of the Basilique Ste. Marie-Madeleine and a large Dominican convent started.

The convent existed upto the French Revolution. Since 2002 here is a very agreeable and comfortable hotel.

The hotel´s pleasant restaurant "Le Chapitre" is centered around the former chapter room.
