Bailly-le-Franc - Via Francigena
The Via Francigena is an pilgrim route running from Canterbury - through Bailly-le-Franc - to Rome. It was probably a beaten track already, when in 990 Sigeric the Serious, archbishop of Canterbury, travelled to Rome and back. He documented his itinerary. His journey consisted of 80 stages for the total of about 1.700 km, what is little more than 20 km per day.

Over years, I have considered to start the Via Francigena, but over ten years followed the various chemins to Santiago. I would probably need 100/120 days, what means three summers. I fear I am too old for that long distances meanwhile...
