La Chapelle-Launay - Abbaye de Blanche-Couronne
It was raining already, when I approached the former abbey, but when I had reached it, there was a cloudburst. So I could only take this photo of the former abbey church. A first abbot is mentioned in 1161, so the abbey may be founded some years earlier. The convent existed upto 1767. The buildings were sold after the French Revolution and altered for other uses.
Meanwhile renovation is under way. It was closed for the public, when I was there, but this website will give more information. The abbey is for sure worth a visit, when the gates are finally open and the sun is out.
