instant saki

Just started brewing a batch of sake, nigorizake (濁り酒)
OK, OK, not quite instant. Grin.
the other side of the story

Other side of the story, and this is the result of sketching in charcoal, "fixing" the image with linseed oil and adding color to the back side of the paper.
I really like this one

Same charcoal drawing as the previous one. I really like this one, OK, I 'fixed the charcoal image by applying linseed oil to the back side of the paper, it soaks through and, when dry, locks the charcoal to the ground as does the oil to the pigments in an oil painting. Then I added color to the back which shows through the paper made translucent by the oil.

This is a quick sketch of one of the the model's one minute poses at last week's life drawing session.
Alas last night's session was canceled, I was really looking forward to it. Bummer!

Steve Bucknell asked to see the dart board. Here it is.
Obviously I'm a bit better with a pistol at seven meters than I am with darts at seven feet. :-)

There a guy I know of locally, that has a 20 yard indoor shooting range in the basement under his house. Good why to comfortably keep your skills up on the long, cold winter days.
Me, I've room to set up an air pistol target 30-40 feet away inside. That works pretty well too.
Yes, by the way, there are breakable, some irreplaceable, items on the shelves behind the target and the 12 X 12 inch backstop, just adds more incentive to be careful and assure the pellet goes where I want. ;-)
Not a bad ride

Made a run down to check the river today on my SnowDog. The River's all iced over but I wouldn't recommend walking on it just yet.
