Pompeii

Pompeii
Claudia Hajian, An accomplished art model in New York City, of whom I think quite highly, was, a few days ago waxing eloquent about how today's artists tend to shun black. At one point she said: "…I was chatting with an artist at her easel... I looked down at her well-organized palette and asked, “Where’s your black?”. She made an incredulous expression and replied, “I don’t use black!”, as if I was crazy to even ask such a question."

Subsequently I told Claudia that my palette tends, more often than not, to be black free unless I'm doing sumi-e, in which case it tends to be color free.

Having said that I do find a little black occasionally shows up on my daubings, such as this one I did at Tuesday's life drawing session at The North Pole Grange.

A little black!? Well…. :-)
