24 hour sun dial

24 hour sun dial
I didn't get any painting done today but I did finish building my 24 hour sun dial.

It still needs a little fine tuning but it's keeping time quite accurately.

The gnomon (the skinny pointy thing in the center) points directly at the north star and subsequently the dial plate is parallel to the plane of the earth's equator, hence this style is called an Equatorial Sundial.

Since right now we have around twenty hours between sunrise and sunset, the Equatorial Sundial is ideal for here.
