Hatched out from a cocoon at home, a beautiful species of Indian Silkmoth.

Giant Atlas moth (Attacus atlas)
This female Giant Atlas had a wingspan of over 9 inches (about 23cm)! She hatched from a cocoon I had at home.

Having reared this moth at home from an egg, here is a shot of her in our garden.

Madagascan moon moth (Argema mittrei)
This stunner hatched from a cocoon that I had at home. Unfortunately she didn't expand her wings perfectly, which is why one of her "tails" is longer than the other, but I still think she's beautiful.

Phlyctaenia coronata moth
Not the most stunning moth species I've ever seen, but I thought it had quite a few attractive points nonetheless. I particularly like the feathery appearance of its thorax. Photographed near Newton, Suffolk, England.
