Ivy Bee (Colletes hederae)

Ivy Bee (Colletes hederae)
...a solitary mining bee and one of several hundred in the Kitchen Gardens at Kingston Lacy, Dorset. The burrow will be several centimetres long and will have been excavated by the female bee. At the end of the tunnel she will have laid an egg and stored pollen and nectar as food for the grub when it emerges.
