Such an impressive looking clock tower which seems to have stood the test of time very well. It looks lovely in the sunshine with the Union Flag proudly flying above it. It's set in lovely surroundings too.

A cracking shot Peter........and much better than most of the photos of it I've seen on-line. ⭐️

Thank you very much for your kind comments Keith it's a phone shot I was waiting for a bus having been for a haircut and thought it looked interesting if I had been walking around with a camera looking for photos I probably wouldn't have taken it

High-rise tower Peter can you look at the surroundings upstairs? I think it's cool if you can also look at the surroundings up there. The clock and the flag should not be missing. Enjoy your Sunday there

In the UK we have Heritage open days when the public has access to places usually closed the clock tower isn't listed I can find lots of information including plans but nothing about the inside there could be a spiral staircase or even ladders to get to the clock and flag pole probably considered to dangerous to open to the public. It was very ambitious for a small mining town

A most unusual war memorial, Peter. Here in our village, the local war memorial is in a 'cave', only about 3 foot deep, in a sandstone cutting.
