Years ago during an extreme drought our local govt distributed egg timers similar to this to encourage people to have shorter showers.

Years ago here during a drought one of the water saving ideas was Bath with a friend !! there is world-wide shower with a friend day

It is indeed an egg timer when most houses didn't have a clock a very useful thing to have, the original idea for the photo was the timer with about of focus eggcup in the background but I couldn't get it right.
