And thank you so much for learning how to use your camera to its utmost so that you could capture this blossom so perfectly. The white is not blown out. You got crisp focus of the entire flower--NICELY DONE on that! Fading into very becoming bokeh behind before fading into rich darkness in the bg to further pop the flower out.There are very nice details throughout to appreciate. Your DOF is dead-on. Wonderful shadows on the leaves to enjoy. Excellent decision to cut the petals off in the foreground to keep a balanced image. Honestly, this image would score a #1 Explore in my book. Outstanding!!!

Did I mention how incredible it is that you will get to see this beautiful flower forever, and it was dead by day's end? Nice one. :) (I feel this way about the pictures I capture of poppies and any of those other delicate 1-day beauties out there)

Thank very much for your wonderful comments Janet, it was just a few quick shots thinking I would have more time later in the day !! the background are Hosta leaves it was to bright on the staging so I moved it underneath among some Hostas. I will never fully understand this camera the menus are so complicated, I bought a book about it's over 500 pages !!! Have a good week.

Thank you for your kind comments Tess,the flower is very similar but it's not an Ephiphyllum, I have been trying to find out what it is. It's about 1.5 inches dia 1inch tall with deep ribs.

Hi Peter I stand corrected. There appears a distinctive difference in the stamens. And your measurements suggests a smaller flower altogether Have not a clue what it is. Looked for ID but found nothing. Regards Tess
