*w!p* APT - Apprentice

Following on from the EHSI scheme - which ended in 2015 - we have continued our commitment to training the younger generation in the older skills needed for restoration and maintenance of heritage timber items.
After a couple or three false starts, we now have two youngsters as "trainees" on the team. Currently [Autumn 2023] we are in the process of {hopefully} arranging day-release studies to parallel our on-the-job training. Cain started with us in 2021 and Lucas in the summer of 2023. Sadly, as he was showing signs of developing a real level of skill, Lucas decided he wanted something else and left in late February 2024. Cain, however, has continued to develop into a skilled member of the team.

In 2016, another young man "Connor" began work with us as an apprentice. After a short period of general tasks and workshop familiarisation, he is getting to grips with working on NSR23. Sadly, he was unable to stay for the full training period and left due to some changes in his personal circumstances. However, during the summer of 2020, Connor came back for some further experience and training. [Currently searching for the rest of these images].
