{OK} RIP - ROBIN HOOD'S TREE

Both a world famous icon and a movie star. Won the 2016 "Tree of the Year" run by the Woodland Trust.

Was felled overnight 27th-28th September 2023 [not by the storm "Agnes"] as an act of wanton and mindless vandalism.

The remains of the tree are actually lying across Hadrian's Wall this morning 24thSepteber 2024.
I understand that Northumbria Police, the National Trust, Northumberland National Park and others are investigating ...
There are a lot of strong feelings being expressed locally - initially disbelief, but that is turning to grief, anger and disappointment etc

and www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn8zldv8759o - Sentencing will be on 15th July 2025 after consideration of "reports", currently both are remanded in custody due to the seriousness of the crimes, for their protection and because they are considered to be a "flight risk".
