{OK} sco - Swans ; Cygnus olor

Swans [Cygnus olor] are magnificent birds, wherever you see them.

The majority of these images were captured in Whitehaven marina, which is home to several established breeding pairs. This means that at times there are the pairs themselves, various non-breeding adults, juveniles and the current crop of cygnets all on the water - or close by the harbour. They feed and nest in various nearby rivers and areas of the Solway Firth, but often frequent the marina for long periods of time, especially if the weather isn't too good or when the tides are especially high.
Included are the "Whitehaven Geese" which often mix in with the swans but are more often on their lonesome.
The "rusty water" from November 2022 to date and the bird flu problems have not had the detrimental affect expected - in early November approximated 20 adults, including two or three late juveniles [& three white geese] were counted, frequenting their usual areas.
