Red Squirrels. Seen in and around our garden in SW Northumberland. [Note : in the numbered image sequences, the codes have gaps as some shots were unusable].
And after a long break, there has been a welcome re-appearance in February 2022, with repeated feeding trips.
Unfortunately ... no further visits during late Feb & early March. Hopefully, that's because it's a she and is looking after young ...
Very pleased to say that Cheeky turned up on 13th March 2002, and had a good feed of hazel nuts at lunchtime.
The local Red Squirrel group have put up a camera trap as part of their wildlife census / studies - and are hoping we can help with a nearby area [Transect] this year.
Update : s/he has been back again, repeatedly feeding, sometimes several times a day, then maybe misses a couple of days ... such as on the 6th April.
In a recent gap between visits we installed a "des res" up in the trees, which has been investigated, as a few hazel shells were on the ground below a day or two later !
After another absence - or we missed seeing "Stumpy" - they were seen & photographed again on the 13th, 18th and 22nd of June 2022.
Very Sadly, so far {early April } we haven't seen any squirrels so far in 2023.
