{OK} TR6 - 5 cmpt Third (GNR 1441)

The coach was brought to Haltwhistle for the re-instatement of the compartments (bulkheads, seating and doors) to improve the level of covid-security and some other cosmetic work in early December 2020.
The first images are of the initial survey, the next set are when TR6 arrived at Haltwhistle. These are followed by images of the work progressing, the last set will show the completed work and finally back in service at Tanfield.
After taking the ceiling panels down to facilitate the re-compartmentalisation we discovered several areas of rot in roof planks, in the first four compartments. Examining the external roof sheet determined that some areas were due water ingress, but much of the damage to the roof of compartment 1 was probably due to condensation during the time spentv as the kitchen in camping coach days and later as a buffet car. These repairs were authorised by the TR, in addition to the previously agreed work. The first stage was to treat the areas and their surroundings with a good quality timber preservative. When the weather is slightly better, these areas of damaged planking will be replaced.
In the meantime, the re-compartmentalisation has continued. The installation of the new or repaired bulkheads, seats and doors are underway. working from compartment 5 to 1. As the woodwork is completed, the painting begins. We are awaiting some new bottom hinges, and a few other items.
