got[26] - Lighthouse [Optic] {2 of 2}
The Great Orme Lighthouse was designed & built by Mr. G F Lyster and was commissioned in 1862.The light was 325 feet about sea level, high up on the north west corner of the Great Orme.
Initially lit by paraffin lamps and modified in 1905 to burn vapourised petroleum and again in 1923 to use dissolved acetylene, the final change was electrification in 1965.
It ceased work as a lighthouse in 1985 and after sale at auction it was converted to a Bed & Breakfast establishment. Since the optic is displayed in the summit visitors' centre, I assume it was removed during that conversion.
