Yes, he is - and more usually found hanging off the peanut feeders, so this is an unusual view of him.

Also looking forward to seeing his offspring this year.

And for the past few days I have been seeing at least one juvenile woodpecker, usually accompanied by one of the adults.
Today, however, junior was on his own ...
and separately both adults have been spotted today, as well.
So, it would seem at least one junior is now reasonably independent ...
.
Hopefully, my album "birds at my window" will shortly contain an image of said juvenile.
