TiG - The Halt

TiG - The Halt
This is the old weigh-house for slate passing through Portmadoc for export by sea [as it was known then, back in 1863].
Now, it is the minor station Boston Lodge Halt, and the nearest building is formally known as "the bothy" with a number of more other informal names, it has done duty as accommodation for volunteers in the past, although it lacks some amenities. The buildings behind are the "old engine shed, with a more recently built extension.
The seats are a pleasant place to await a passing train - if you wish to board, then you need to give a clear signal to the driver, the route has just started the 1 in 80 climb into the hills. [Done that a few times, over the years].

Marco F. Delminho, Fred Fouarge, Trudy Tuinstra, Annemarie have particularly liked this photo
