The official "First Train" to open the service to Peel, at Douglas on Thursday,1st July 1873. The loco is No.1 "Sutherland" - without the cab back sheet. The train would be carrying many dignitaries, as well as the band who were carried in an open waggon next to the "Ducal Saloon" !
Note : the rake of 4-wheelers in the background, as the livery is single colour, these will all be second class B or C designs.
The first class [designated A] in the train have the upper sections painted a lighter colour.
