HWH - Grindon Lough [low tide]

HWH - Grindon Lough [low tide]
Grindon Lough in mid-July 2021.
Lack of recent rain and a high rate of evaporation have considerably shrunk this lough, which has no beck as an exiting flow route for water.

Compare to a winter view, with a much higher water level.

Hadrian's Wall runs along the ridge that forms the horizon, and the photographer has been travelling along the line of the Stanegate, the route of a Roman road that pre-dated Hadrian's Wall.
