TiG - Pyronaut
Fire Float "Pyronaut" from Bristol Harbour, built in 1934 by Charles Hill & Sons, Albion Docks, Bristol; even with the low air draft the helmsman has to lie on deck to pass under Prince Street swing bridge without the bridge having to be opened. She played a significant role in WW2 during the Bristol Blitz. After a long career she was sold off in 1973, and after several changes of owner and purpose, she was restored between 1989 and 1995 by Bristol Industrial Museum. Now berthed outside "M Shed Museum", Bristol - and she is part of the core collection of the National Historic Fleet.
