Rabbit in the Kop

Rabbit in the 'kop', Liverpool's famous home stand. The kop used to accomodate over 20,000 fans standing - all crammed in, swaying and surging, shouting and singing. Very atmospheric but also dangerous. After a series of tragic incidents in football stadia in the 70s, 80s and 90s, stadia were made all seating. Apparently, on the day that Liverpool played their last match before the kop converted to seating, fans brought hammers, chisels and other tools with them into the stand. Throughout the match, in between cheering and chanting, they hacked away at the concrete, railings, steps and even the toilets, in order to take home a piece of the historic stand! Although Rabbit appreciates the tradition and mythology of the kop, he's glad it's so much safer now.
