Symbolism: The goddess represents material fulfillment and contentment, as well as the four life goals of dharma (righteousness), artha (achievement of wealth), kama (desires), and moksha (liberation). She is also associated with purity and enlightenment through the symbolism of the lotus flower.
Iconography: She is frequently shown with four hands, two of which shower gold coins, and the other two holding a conch shell and a lotus. She is often seated or standing on a lotus flower, which symbolizes her ability to rise above material impurities.
Consort: She is the wife of Vishnu, and her avatars have accompanied many of his avatars, such as Sita with Rama and Rukmini with Krishna.
Worship: Lakshmi is celebrated during festivals like Diwali and Tihar. She is also associated with the auspicious symbol "Shri," which means "splendor" or "good fortune," and is used as a title of respect for highly revered individuals.
Origin: According to mythology, Lakshmi emerged from the ocean of milk during a churning of the sea and chose Vishnu as her husband.
