Arles - Théâtre antique Le théâtre antique d'Arles a été construit à la fin du Ier siècle av. J.-C., sous le règne de l'empereur Auguste, juste après la fondation de la colonie romaine. Commencé vers 40/30 av. J.-C., il fut achevé vers l’an 12 av. J.-C. devenant ainsi l'un des premiers théâtres en pierr du monde romain. Le théâtre s'inscrit sur le decumanus du quadrillage romain. De l'élévation antique supportant la cavea, il ne demeure plus qu'une travée, englobée au Moyen Âge dans le rempart de la cité où elle fut transformée en tour de défense (ici en photo). Francia - Arles - Espace Van Gogh in nota uno di quei fiori ;-) History: The huge quadrilateral building of the Hôtel-Dieu was built in the 16th and 17th centuries during a period of great prosperity and modernisation in the city. In keeping with the city's tradition of hospitality, the Hôtel-Dieu was host to a famous inmate in the person of Vincent Van Gogh (he was committed here after the infamous episode of cutting off his left earlobe in December 1888) , who painted several pictures of it. The courtyard has been extensively planted out to resemble as closely as possible his famous painting "Le Jardin de l'Hôtel de Dieu". Effetto Mistral e panomama della piana del Rodano nei pressi di Beaucaire e precisamente dall'alto della abbazia di Saint Roman. Penso che quello laggiù in fondo sia il Mont Ventoux. Il nome sembrerebbe derivare da "vento": il Maestrale (il Mistral in francese), soffia infatti sul suo crinale sommitale (1912 metri s.l.m.) con continuità e grande violenza, raggiungendo e superando spesso i 160 km/h (la velocità massima raggiunta dal Mistral fu di 313 km/h, registrata il 20 marzo 1967) per poi diffondersi nella pianura sottostante, fino al mare. Ma un'interpretazione più moderna e approfondita assegna l'origine del nome Ventoux al lemma pregallico ventur, poi passato nella lingua occitana, che significa "colui che si vede da lontano". Numerosi studi e testimonianze d'epoca danno ormai pieno credito a questo etimo da molti anni. Anche nelle locali lingue provenzale e occitano il Monte non è chiamato Ventoux, bensì "Ventour". The Abbey of Saint-Roman (Abbaye de Saint-Roman), is a cave monastery located in the communes of Beaucaire and Comps, in the Gard département of France. The site, which includes the ruins of a castle, the château de Saint-Roman-d'Aiguille, has been protected by the French Ministry of Culture as a "monument historique" since 1990 and includes a chapel, cloisters, terrace, tombs and walls. It was constructed in the 9th, 10th, 12th and 15th centuries. The abbey is reached by a signposted path from Beaucaire which leads past a vast chamber and the monks' cells to the chapel carved out of the rock (in photo here) which contains the tomb of St Roman. From the terrace, there is a fine view over the Rhône, Avignon and the Mont Ventoux area with Tarascon in the foreground (see PiP ). France - Gers - Tieste Uragnoux L'Adour (in occitano guascone Ador, in basco Aturri) è un fiume francese del bacino aquitano nel sud ovest della Francia. Nasce in tre piccoli torrenti dal massiccio del Pic du Midi de Bigorre, dal massiccio dell'Arbizon e dal massiccio del Lascours, nei Pirenei, nel dipartimento degli Alti Pirenei, si forma nella valle di Campan in Alta Bigorre e sbocca nell'Oceano Atlantico, dopo aver percorso 335 km. Questo fiume di tipo montano, a regime pluvio-nivale, ha una variazione di portata notevole, che varia da un massimo di 2000 m³/s ad un minimo di 30 m³/s. Boulevard Amiral Courbet - Nimes - France Lo sapevate che ... Un boulevard è una strada di comunicazione posta dove vi erano in precedenza delle mura antiche e deriva dall'olandese bolwerk (che significa appunto "roccaforte", "bastione"). Il termine baluardo (balluardo, bellovardo) è attestato dal pieno Cinquecento in Italia fra la corrente terminologia d'architettura e ingegneria militare. La parola è stata usata dal XV secolo in Francia dove fu francesizzata in boulevard. Così fu possibile far sì che il traffico transitasse all'esterno di una città come se fosse una circonvallazione. Il comune di Fontvieille è noto sul territorio per la presenza del cosiddetto "Mulino di Daudet", edificato nel 1815, in riferimento allo scrittore Alphonse Daudet che ne parla nelle sue Lettere dal mio mulino. Tale citazione è stata sufficiente per rendere molto famoso questo mulino a vento (in realtà chiamato "Moulin Saint-Pierre" o "Moulin Ribet" dal nome del suo ultimo proprietario), e con esso la cittadina. La presenza a breve distanza dei ruderi di altri tre mulini, Mulino Ramet, Mulino Sourdon, Mulino Tissot-Avon, un tempo simboli identificativi della città, ha spinto a sfruttare l'area a scopo turistico. Pertanto il Moulin Ribet è stato completamente restaurato e reso visitabile, è stato creato un piccolo museo dedicato a Daudet, ed è stato istituito un "Percorso Daudet" di circa un chilometro che tocca, oltre ai quattro mulini ed il museo, anche il vicino Castello di Montauban.
