Lo sapevate che ...
questo storico edificio, costruito alla fine del I secolo d.C., è il più grande anfiteatro romano della Gallia ? E comunque il quarto in assoluto !
Utilizzato ancora oggi per corride e altri spettacoli, attualmente può contenere 12.000 spettatori, mentre in epoca romana ne poteva ospitare fino a circa 21.000.
Quella che vedete in alto è una delle 3 torri aggiunte in epoca medievale, quando la struttura divenne una vera e propria cittadella fortificata abitata. L'edificio si "spopolò" soltanto nel corso del XIX secolo e fu riportato allo stato originale.
