Villa Regina Margherita - Bordighera - Liguria - Italia
La villa fu la residenza privata della regina Margherita di Savoia che sovente frequentò Bordighera e la Liguria.
La regina era rimasta molto scossa a seguito dell'attentato che Umberto I aveva subito a Napoli il 17 novembre 1878 e aveva difficoltà a riprendersi. Per ritemprarsi i medici le avevano consigliato la Riviera e Bordighera, qui giunse nel settembre del 1879.
Il soggiorno a Bordighera fu così piacevole che la regina vi ritornò svariate volte e infine nel 1914 fece costruire questa bella villa che dalle alture della cittadina costiera domina giardini e mare.
La villa fu inaugurata il 25 febbraio 1916 e, a partire da quel momento, la regina vi trascorse ogni anno svariati mesi, di solito da maggio a dicembre. La regina Margherita vi morì il 4 gennaio 1926, all'età di 74 anni.
(in PiP il cancello visto dall'interno, chissà se la Regina avrebbe gradito quella nuova costruzione lì davanti ;-))
