La viperina azzurra (boraginaceae) è una pianta mellifera, i fiori sono molto bottinati dalle api, grazie alla lunga fioritura da cui si può produrre del miele, anche monoflorale ma solo nelle pochissime zone dove è molto diffusa quest'erba.
Un infuso di erba viperina permette di curare infezioni locali.
