Hibiscus syriacus
È il fiore nazionale della Corea del Sud, dove viene coltivato da tempo immemore, sia come pianta ornamentale che per farne tisane. Dal 1963 compare nel loro stemma nazionale.
Importata dall'Asia nel 16o secolo, si diffuse in Europa, dove venne ritenuta, in un primo momento, pianta da serra, e solo successivamente, verso la fine del 1600, pianta da piena terra. Dall'Inghilterra si diffuse verso le colonie americane, dove viene spesso chiamata "Rosa di Sharon".
