Prior to the introduction of rear engined buses, North Western Road Car Co borrowed/hired a Daimler Fleetline from Birmingham Corporation Transport, which was based for a while at the Charles St Depot in Stockport.
The official photographer was on hand to record the scene as 3246 246 DOC stands at Manchester Lower Mosley Street Bus Station just before departure on what was presumably its maiden voyage, on the service 28 to Hayfield.
My dad was the conductor on this occasion, seen standing in front of the bus, and the driver can be seen upstairs in the process of changing the destination blind.
Believed to be sometime in 1962.
