------------------------------------------
Cardamine hirsuta, commonly called hairy bittercress (klein springkruid, kleine veldkers/ cardamine hérissée / behaartes Schaumkraut) is edible as a salad green.

It is common in moist areas around the world.

When the fruit is ripe the valves on the siliquae will coil tightly from the bottom to the top after being touched and burst explosively, sending the seeds flying far from the parent plant.
This seed dispersal strategy is referred to as ballochory.

This unobtrusive weed grows everywhere in my cultivated garden borders. As you say, it has a very effective method of seed dispersal.

Nice image and informative. I don’t know this one but sure it’ll crop up when I least expect it. Looks quite sturdy

What an interesting weed Luc, one that I am not familiar with. As Diederik pointed out, great effect with the diagonal and vertical lines of plant, jacket and zipper. Well done. :)

So a good one. It does not grow here but in North Peninsula they have it and eat it. Coomon name here "Agrião-dos-prados", meaning "Meadow cress".

Excellent.
