Stockport Edgeley Engine shed 28th April 1968
A Sunday afternoon visit to the loco shed a week before the end of steam. Not that I knew that at the time. Stanier 8F 2-8-0 48745 by the coaling conveyor belt was withdrawn when the shed closed.

A most evocative photo of a view so typical throughout the 60s on our railways and very nicely composed. If we'd all had digital cameras in those days, I believe we would have a complete record of of every loco's final days.

Thanks for that Polyrus. I was definitely limited by the number of 36 frame films I could afford back then. With a 64Gb card in my 300S I could have taken 1000s more and, as you say, recorded every minute of the last few weeks.

I used to bunk Edgeley shed after school around 1964. So many memories!
