Vintage Christmas
The Jolly Prankster

Merry Christmas all!
This is my favorite card of the whole batch - and why not? Mid-century goodness and the jolliest prankster of 'em all!

This is my second favorite Christmas card this year. I'm a sucker for these oblong cards and their oft simplistic designs, plus you've got a mischievous Santa to boot! Winner!
Vintage Christmas card - late 1950's.
Hi there!

How's this for your straightforward, jolly St. Nick?

Tonight's three vintage offerings all differ in their treatment from the usual depictions of a jovial Santa or the hi-jinx of anthropomorphic snowmen, and each of these differs further in its progressive abstraction.
This final entrant is abstract and highly geometric - a tad unusual for its age - but graphically not without its charms.
And there you have it... my Christmas card mini-thesis! ;-p
Christmas in flatville

This card boasts a certain flatness, along with an interesting palette, which adds to the overall contrast and effect, perfectly conjuring that crisp, cool winter feel.
At least to me it does! ;-)
Green skies tonight

This card still hints at a more traditional, illustrative style, yet the trees stand in stark enough silhouette to the sparse sky that it serves stylistically as the perfect bridge to the next of the trio...
Mitten to mitten I'm smitten

In general, it's tough to beat snowmen - but when it's a whole snow-family, the cuteness is off the charts!!

Ahhh... another perfectly rural, perfectly idyllic Christmas!

Let's hear it for the boys

I'm going out on a limb here in suggesting that this vintage wrapping paper was intended for young boys...
Circa 1940's.
