Panic was published by E.C. comics, who also published a similar and better-known satire comic called Mad Comics, which eventually became Mad Magazine. Like most E.C. comics of the day, Panic featured four stories by comic art heavyweights like Bill elder, Jack Davis, and the great Wally Wood.

Panic is one of a handful of titles that E.C. published after the Comics Code Authority (C.C.A.) was established, usually designated as their short-lived "New Direction" titles. The C.C.A. effectively did away with the more popular E.C. books like Tales from the Crypt and The Vault of Horror.

This issue opens with a spoof of Alley Oop entitled "Irving Oops" by Bill Elder and closes with Wally Wood's wonderfully-rendered "Gone With The Widow."

Panic issue No. 8 - May 1955.
