Saturday Self-Challenge: Suggested by Sami, use the edge of a photo to cut the main subject in half. Two items from my salt-glazed pottery collection. This week's topic was a challenge, but in a good way. It is difficult to photograph only half of the subject and make it look artistic rather than accidental. These two items of pottery looked so nice together that it gave me an idea I thought would make them great subjects for this challenge. The technique of cutting the subjects in half enabled me to focus on their complimentary shapes.

TSC: maximalism metamorphosis

The Sunday Challenge (TSC): Maximalism Maximalism as antithesis to minimalism- more is more instead of less is more. I can relate to that as my bookshelves groan;-) Collage made of several single shots, then edited in 4 different ways and made into a collage again. Inset the original collage edited in an analogue Kodachrome look. Original size added as second PiP!

Erst habe ich überlegt etwas unter dem Mikroskop zu fotografieren. Dann habe ich mich aber doch für das Makro-Objektiv entschieden. Es kann bis zum Maßstab 1:1 abbilden. Ich habe also diese Einstellung gewählt und im Gegensatz zu sonst das Objekt in den Schärfenbereich bewegt. Darum sieht man die Münze auch nicht ganz, denn ich wollte ja so nah ran wie möglich. Es handelt sich um eine dänische Krone. Als ich 14 war, fuhr ich mit anderen Jugendlichen auf eine Ferienfreizeit nach Dänemark. Ich trug diese Münze lange als Erinnerung an einer Kette. (Praktisch, dass sie ein Loch in der Mitte hat.) Es ist bis heute eine meiner Lieblingsmünzen, denn welches Geld hat schon Herzen und so schöne Kringel in der Prägung? (As close as you can get. Get out your macro toys and cropping skills and make a photograph that gets as close as you can to an object without losing sight of what that object is.)

Ich habe mich für etwas Einfaches entschieden. Polka Dots auf dem Bildschirm und die Kristallkugel davor. Das Bild hat übrigens mit dem Handy viel besser funktioniert als mit der Kamera. (Our topic for next week will be Contrast. There are two aspects to contrast; color and tonal. You may choose one or the other to work on. Color or B&W, whatever your preference may be.)
