Alien Landscape

Alien Landscape
As astronomers discover new "Earth-Like" planets orbiting stars countless lightyears away, I often contemplate how an alien landscape might appear under the light of an unknown sun . . .

This photo was taken by a Yashica-D TLR medium format film camera with a 49mm Hoya R72 Infrared filter mounted on a bayonet adapter using Rollei IR 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection 600 and digitally rendered in Photoshop.

The process which lead to this photo was a suggestion by my friend Andrew Weller to use a TLR bayonet mounted filter for Infrared photography allowing the viewing lens for better focus and composition, overcoming the obstacle of shooting blind with an opaque filter.
