you copy most of our sentiments exactly. and my husband and i honeymooned in Half Moon Bay before going on to SF. and Italy - well of course!!

i never thought of the wind as being a reason for the tree situation. interesting.

Reminds me of a very large and old avocado tree against a palace wall in Santillana del Mar in Cantabria in the North of Spain. What astonished me wasn't the tree itself but the fact that it was heavily laden with fruit - in February!!!!

Have you been to San Fransisco? It has a very european feel, so it doesn't surprise me that you are reminded of a tree in Spain. This tree, however, was not full of fruit in March, though I think the lemon tree that was in the back right corner had fruit.
