Pantà d'Escales (Escales Reservoir) is an artificial lake of the Noguera Ribagorçana river, south of El Pont de Suert.

Blossoming almond trees nearby the white village of Almegíjar in the so called Alpujarra.

Heerde: Pluizenmeer or Pluizenmeertje. It is named after 'veenpluis' (common cottongrass), which is growing along this little lake. In the older days it was used for washing the sheep from nearby 'Renderklippen'.

Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk (Our Lady Church) dating back to the 13th century, when it was founded as a catholic church. In the year of 1577 it was confiscated by the protestants and remained a reformed church till nowadays. Photo: interior of the church with the former choir.

Marken is one of the most visited tourist sights in the Netherlands. It is a former island in the so called 'Zuiderzee'. Marken is well-known for its characteristic green coloured wooden houses, pictoresque harbour and traditional costumes. The 'Wilhelminabrug' - ca. 1850 - is one of the five wooden drawbridges in Marken and is situated in the 'Kerkbuurt' (Church Area), with the Protestant Church (1904). Kasteel Sterkenburg - nearby Langbroek - is dating back to 13th century.

The Sant Climent de Taüll is Romanesque church, consecrated on the 10th of December 1123. It is one of the nine Early Romanesque churches in the Boí Valley on the World Heritage list of the Unesco.

Construction of the Great Mosque of Córdoba started in 798 by Abd al-Rahman I. The building is considered being the most beautiful expression of Islamic art in Spain. It was the place of worship for the rulers of the western Islamic empire Al-Andalus. The so called Mezquita is a jewel of Hispano-Islamic art with its 850 columns, double arches and Byzantine mosaics. In the year of 1236 Córdoba was conquered by Fernando III and the mosque was consecrated as a cathedral. The cathedral canons ordered in 1523 the center of the mosque pulled down to make way for a gothic transept and apse, later embellished with renaissance decorations and in the mid-18th century baroque choir stalls and pulpits.

The St. Gerlachuskerk is one of the most famous Dutch places of pilgrimage. And even in this days there are about 30.000 pilgrims a year visiting the church and especially the tomb of St. Gerlach who lived in Houthem in the 12th century. He died in 1164 or 1165. The St. Gerlachus Church has a baroque interior.

Tombstone on the graveyard of the 'Mare de Déu de les Neus' church in the little village of Irgo.

Dekema State: a country estate in the 14th century originally built as a fortified dwelling. Rebuilt many times till its last restoration in 2004.
