Snowy Owl owlet
One of three owlets born to a pair of Snowy Owls at the Calgary Zoo. One big ball of grey fluff!

Burrowing Owl
One of my favourite things to visit when I go to the Zoo. Several of these owls have the freedom of the Calgary Zoo Conservatory. I'm still hoping that on one of my visits, an owl will be sitting on top of one of the photogenic cacti.

Snowy Owl
The weather was strange on the day I took this photo. The sky was dark grey yet the sun was throwing a golden light on the white feathers of this magnificent Snowy Owl. I'm not sure if it is a female or a young male. The adult males are white but females and young males have the dark streaking on them to varying degrees. I know this photo was #495 at one point, but have no record of whether it got any higher.

Great Horned Owl
Last winter, I so much enjoyed driving down to a local park just to check out this pair of Great Horned Owls. Without the leaves on the trees, life was much easier when trying to photograph these birds. Can't always find a spot where there are no branches in the way, though.

Snowy Owl
This female is at the Calgary Zoo. She and her mate had three young owlets this year. She was rather puffed up when I took this picture.

Barred Owl
This owl is in the aviary at the Calgary Zoo along with the Great Grey Owls. I have not yet seen it close to, unlike the Great Greys.

My front
Again, a branchless and leafless view, for which I am always grateful!

Whoooo are you?
Another photo of the young Great Horned Owl that I was so lucky to come across on one of my walks. Not sure who was the most fascinated - him/her or me!
