Clouds, sunrises and sunsets

Managed to take a couple of very quick shots over the shopping area while I was stopped at a red light. A few minutes later, the brilliance had all faded away.

As I was driving down into Fish Creek Park yesterday morning for a bird count, I just had to stop and take a photo of the sunrise.

I can almost fool myself into thinking that this looks like some tropical beach and sunset. In reality, it is a cold winter scene down at my local park!

This sky was a little different when I went with a friend east of Calgary to look for Snowy Owls and Short-eared Owls.

Not a very inspiring image and I know I don't get to see more than the very occasional sunRISE, but I rather liked the colours in this direction of the sky. Maybe the sky is often this colour early morning, but it was different for me.

This morning on my walk, there was a gap in the clouds where the sun was gleaming through, casting a golden sheen on the frozen river below. And it was cold and very windy - in fact, there is a Wind Warning for Calgary at the moment.

Thought I'd add a few photos taken yesterday morning starting just before sunrise. This photo shows the frozen, snow-covered Elbow River and Weaselhead. Temperature was something like -13C.
