You gotta do what you gotta do

LOL, I took this tomato out of the fridge to add to my supper two evenings ago and it immediately went through my mind that I should photograph it before eating it. My world has quickly turned into a grey and white one, thanks to our recent heavy snowfall, so I (and my photostream!) needed this brilliant splash of colour. I know, it's JUST a tomato : )

Naughty girl!

Just couldn't resist buying one when I dashed out to do some food shopping a short while ago. I definitely do NOT need things like this, but I find that in the winter months I am far more likely to give in to temptation. And yes, I've already eaten it. My excuse this time was that when I bought one before, my photos were blurrier than I thought : )

Too pretty to eat?

This beautiful 8" Squash caught my eye when I was searching for a regular Acorn Squash in Safeway recently. Isn't nature just amazing?! I've always been fascinated by pumpkins, squash and gourds. There is a label underneath, giving cooking instructions, so I think I may actually cook it and eat it - yes, I bought it to take photos of it, LOL. Does anyone know if these taste really good? A bit later: it has now been in the oven almost half an hour, so is about half way cooked. I should have looked more carefully at the label, as it gives the name, Turban Squash : ) Hope it tastes good, as there is a LOT of it, ha, ha. Much later: yummy, it WAS good!

Seeing stars

A strange fruit, but one with such an interesting shape. They certainly don't grow up here - I bought this one from Safeway recently.

Chocolate Checker Mousse Cake

LOL, the reason for buying this much-too-tempting dessert was simply that I was feeling desperate to photograph something different! Too many flowers, too many owls, too many ...... The hardest part about photographing something like this delicious Chocolate Checker Mousse Cake is having to download my photos and check that at least one of the photos has come out sharp enough - and THEN I can eat it, ha, ha! I must point out, though, that it is/was only about 3" diameter!! Hundreds of calories, I'm sure, but when it comes to getting a photo, sometimes, you just have to do what you have to do! Thanks, Safeway, yet again : )

Jelly Babies

Does anyone else know about Jelly Babies? I used to find it impossible to resist buying these when we had Marks & Spencers in the city years ago. My daughter from Vancouver (who is in Calgary for a week) had recently posted a macro of these delicious, mouth-watering candies, so I have been drooling at the thought of them. The store where one can now buy these treats is way across the city from where I live, so I never buy them. When I met my daughter at the Stampede Grounds yesterday morning, to soak up a little of the atmosphere of the Calgary Stampede, she suddenly presented me with a bag of these Jelly babies. When I got home, it was all I could do to summon up enough self-control to NOT eat them all before I had taken a few photos of them. However, I had eaten every single one before I downloaded my photos to my computer, only to discover that not a single photo was nice and sharp. This is the only one that is just about usable! Mmm ... my mouth is watering! Hope yours is, too! Thanks, Rachel!

Waiting ...

Well, that was torture, LOL! Had to wait till I'd downloaded my photos to my computer to check that at least one photo came out OK, before I could eat this tiny cheese cake (bought from Safeway)! And now it's all gone : ) It was a little less than 3" diameter (placed on a saucer), so not TOO many calories - yeah, right! Have a Happy Valentine's Day everyone and a super weekend!

I didn't need it - but I wanted it

Mmmm, Rum and Raisin, and Cherry!! This was a treat to myself after a 7 km hike on the Fullerton Loop, off Elbow Falls Trail. We called in at Bragg Creek, a hamlet situated just before the Elbow Falls Trail takes one into the beginning of the mountains. Unfortunately, there is a great little candy store there! So much for the calories I burned on the hike, LOL.

One within a star

I finally bought a Star Fruit yesterday, to photograph. I carefully cut two slices from the widest part in the middle and found this single, beautifully coloured seed. All my photos looked nice and sharp in the viewfinder, so I ate the fruit. When I uploaded my images to the computer, I discovered that almost all the photos were completely blurry apart from maybe three. I don't remember ever eating Starfruit before.
