This native member of the Aster family or Composite family has small (less than 1 cm across), densely packed and often overlapping flowers growing along the stem. Also known as Heath White Aster, Many-flowered Aster, and Heath Aster. It grows in fields and along roadsides, and grows in patches as it spreads primarily by runners and roots. Photographed just south of the city, just south of 22X, on August 20th.
