And then there was one
These are the seedpods of Tufted Vetch, also called Bird Vetch and Cow Vetch. There are 2-8 seeds within each pod. Bird Vetch has a 1-sided, many-flowered (15 or more) inflorescence. This is an introduced plant which is often found along roadsides and on disturbed ground. Each tiny purple flower looks like a miniature hummingbird : ). These seedpods were photographed at Pearce Estate.
