Maltese Cross

Maltese Cross
Just one of the many very small flowers that make up a Maltese Cross flower head. Seen at the Reader Rock Garden. Originates from European Russia.

The Maltese Cross flower (Lychnis chalcedonica) is so named because its petals are shaped like aMaltese Cross, though its points are more rounded into "heart"-like shapes.

It is a clump-forming, quick -growing species that thrives best in the full sun.
